Cross country wraps up season at MAC Championship meet

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.
--- The Lycoming College cross country teams finished their 2009 seasons on Saturday, Oct. 31 as the competed in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship meet. Steve Brown and Michelle Herman were the first Warriors across the finish line.
 
In the women’s event, Herman (Altoona, Pa./Hollidaysburg) completed the 6,000 meter course in 26:02, finishing in 24th place in a field of 129. Second for the Warriors was senior Kari Smith (Corning, N.Y./Corning Painted-Post), stopping the clock in 26:53 in 41st place. Rounding out the top three for Lycoming was Alex Rinaldi (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) in a time of 33:26 in 111th place. As a team, the Lady Warriors finished in 11th place.
 
For the men, Brown (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) finished the 8,000 meter course in 31:47, good enough for 76th place. Greg Sledzik (White Hall, Md./Hereford) was the second Warrior across the line in a time of 33:18, finishing in 91st place in a field of 134 runners. Jake Lewis (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) was the third Lycoming runner across the line in 94th place with a time of 33:30.
