GLENSIDE, Pa. --- Lycoming College’s volleyball team battled through five sets against Arcadia University, falling 3-2 in the Commonwealth Conference battle. Senior outside hitter Beth Machella took a match-high 54 attack attempts.
Lycoming slips to 10-15 overall and 2-4 in the Commonwealth while Arcadia improves to 11-9 on the season and 2-4 in the league.
The Lady Warriors fought hard through the five games, falling 23-25, 25-21, 28-26, 20-25 11-15.
Machella (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) scored 13 kills on her 54 attempts. She also added 22 digs to the team’s total 120. On the back row, Emily Abel (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) had 37 digs while Megan Schulze (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) played strong at the net, earning 10 total blocks, including five solo.
Junior outside hitter Kelly Rose (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Bishop Hoban) added 11 kills on 28 swings. Senior setter Abby Myers (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) handed out 26 assists and sophomore setter Amy Sharlow (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) tallied 11 assists. Myers also chipped in 12 digs.
Lycoming returns to the court Monday, Oct. 26 when it travels to Dallas, Pa. to face Misericordia University for the second time this season. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
