Lady Warrior volleyball falls twice at Moravian Tri-Match

--- Lycoming College’s volleyball team fell in both games at a tri-match hosted by Moravian College on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Lady Warriors fell 3-2 to Marymount University and lost 3-1 to Moravian.
 
The pair of losses drops Lycoming to 9-13 on the season.
 
In the first match against host Moravian, Lycoming fell 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 9-25, 18-25). Setters Abby Myers and Amy Sharlow (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn)help combined for 28 assists, Myers with 15 and Sharlow with 13. Libero Emily Abel (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) picked up 14 digs while Kelly Rose had seven kills.
 
The second game was much closer for Lycoming, losing to Marymount 3-2 (10-25, 15-25, 26-24, 27-25, 9-15). Abel dominated the back row, adding 37 digs while senior defensive specialist Alyssa Taylor (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) picked up an additional 18. Myers (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) handed out 26 helpers and scored four service aces.
 
On offense, senior outside hitter Beth Machella (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) scored an outstanding 17 kills in the five-set match. Rose (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Bishop Hoban) scored eight kills and Megan Schulze (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) was a force at the net with two solo blocks and one assisted.
 
Lycoming returns to conference play on  Wednesday, Oct. 14 when they host Elizabethtown College. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
