WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s tennis team lost its home opener to King’s College, 6-3, on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The Lady Warriors picked up wins at No. 3 doubles, No. 2 singles and No. 6 singles.
Lycoming’s Jessica Souchik (Lewis Run, Pa.) and Kathryn Walker (Red Lion, Pa.) paired together to pick up an 8-6 win over Maria Cometa and Jennifer Bader at the No. 3 doubles position.
Souchik also picked up her first singles win of the season, defeating Cometa in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) at the No. 6 position.
Sophomore Rebecca Reynolds (South Williamsport, Pa.) improved to 2-1 on the season with a straight-set victory (6-3, 7-5) over Courtnay Wilson at the No. 2 singles position. Reynolds trailed 5-2 in the second set but rallied to win five-straight games to secure the match.
The Lady Warriors drop to 0-3 this season while King’s improves to 3-2.
Lycoming is back in action this Saturday, Sept. 20, against Albright. The Commonwealth Conference match is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. at Bruce E. Henry Park in Loyalsock, Pa.
