SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s tennis team opened the season at Susquehanna on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The Lady Warriors dropped the match by a score of 9-0.
Junior Aimee Snyder (Kempton, Pa.) played at the no.1 singles position and suffered a hard-fought defeat in three sets against Shelby Werronen. Snyder loss the first set 4-6 before battling back to win the second set 6-4. In the decisive pro-set tiebreaker, she fell 10-7.
Sophomore Rebecca Reynolds (South Williamsport) also forced a decisive third set at no.2 singles. Reynolds dropped the first set against Julia Lerner, 2-6, and battled back to win the second set 6-2 before falling 1-6 in the final set.
Reynolds and Snyder posted the Lady Warriors best score in doubles, dropping the no.1 match, 6-8, against Werronen and Christine Crigler.
Lycoming (0-1) will travel to Arcadia this weekend to open the conference schedule. The match is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13.
