After leading the Warriors into a half-game lead in the MAC Commonwealth by guiding the men's basketball team to a pair of tough conference wins against Albright and then first-place Lebanon Valley, junior David Johnson has earned his first career Warrior of the Week award. The point guard averaged 21.0 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 rebounds during the two wins. He posted 25 points, including 10 late in fourth quarter to force overtime and 10 in overtime to lead the Warriors to an 82-77 win over Albright. He was extremely efficient down the stretch, hitting all eight of his free throws and guiding an offense that hit 7-of-11 from the field in the game's final 9:44 to guide the Warriors back from a five-point deficit in regulation before taking over in overtime with 10 of the team's 15 points. Johnson also crossed the 1,000-point barrier in his collegiate career during the game, as he scored 830 in two years at Mercer County Community College before transferring to Lycoming. He followed that performance by scoring 17 points to go with a career-high eight assists to go with four steals against Lebanon Valley in a 96-87 win. He hit 54 percent (14-of-26) of shots from field and all 12 free throws he took during the week.
