ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lycoming College junior men’s tennis player Alex Beattie has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week. He also has been tabbed the College’s Warrior of the Week for April 5.
Beattie improved to 2-0 on the season in singles action after defeating Tom Neckelmann of Lebanon Valley College 6-2, 6-2 in the second flight on Thursday, April 1. Beattie and freshman Jason Mifsud partnered to win their first flight doubles match 9-7.
Beattie is a philosophy major.
The Warriors are 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Commonwealth Conference after defeating the Lebanon Valley 7-2. Lycoming is at Messiah College on Tuesday, April 6 for another Commonwealth tilt. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Grantham, Pa.
Lycoming’s sports information office will announce a Warrior of the Week throughout the 2009-10 academic year. The athletes will be featured on the homepage of the athletics Web site at athletics.lycoming.edu.
