A four-year letterwinner in women's basketball at Lycoming College, Rebecca Spencer '11 is in her second year as an assistant coach with the program.
Spencer was a two-sport athlete during her career at Lycoming, earning three letters in softball as well as four in basketball and she was a campus leader off the court, serving as both a resident advisor and as the president of the Leadership Team at Play it by Faith Ministries.Â
She earned All-Commonwealth Conference honors in softball as sophomore, the MAC Sportsmanship Award in women’s basketball as a senior and was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll four times. She was also inducted into Lycoming’s biology and chemistry honor societies.
As a senior, Spencer focused solely on basketball athletically, and she was rewarded with career-highs nearly across the board, averaging 5.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and posting new highs of 27 assists, 14 blocks and 15 steals.
To cap her collegiate career, Spencer was given the College’s top honor, the Chieftain Award, which recognizes the graduating senior who has shown the utmost dedication and leadership qualities while at Lycoming and whose academic rank is above the median of the preceding senior class.
Spencer, who is also an admissions counselor at the College, resides in Williamsport. She has also coached girls' basketball teams at Loyalsock Township and Troy school districts.
