Lycoming College graduate Rebecca Gibboney ’10 is set for her 10th season with the college's women's basketball team as an assistant coach in 2023-24.
During her first nine years as an assistant coach, Gibboney has helped the team to a 109-102 (.517) record, six straight winning seasons from 2014-20 and six appearances in the conference tournament, including an appearance in the conference final in 2019. She has helped coach 11 all-conference honorees.
A four-year letterwinner for the Warriors, Gibboney (née Leid) made a splash when she came to the program, earning the Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year award in 2006-07. She went on to post 716 points in her career and her .485 career field goal percentage is still sixth in program history. She is also in the top 20 in program history with 438 career rebounds.
After graduating, Gibboney began to coach in the Loyalsock Township school district, working as the head coach of the eighth-grade girls’ team for three seasons before assisting with the varsity and junior varsity program in 2013-14. Gibboney also has experience with the Firm AAU program and was also active in the Loyalsock Little Lady Lancers program.
A four-time member of the Middle Atlantic Conference Honor Roll, Gibboney graduated in 2010 with a bachelor of arts in Spanish. She is a curriculum and online learning specialist at BLaST Intermediate Unit 17.
Gibboney is married to men's soccer coach, Nate, and the couple reside in Loyalsock Township.
