  • Title
    Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

After starting for three years at Manhattanville College and playing for head coach Todd Hodgson for two seasons, Shane Fanini is in his first year with the Lycoming College men’s lacrosse staff as an assistant coach.

“I’m real excited that Shane has joined the program,” Hodgson said. “Having played for me, I know his passion for the game, but also I know the way he works. He’s very meticulous and he is coming from a place where he played with one of the best hockey teams in the country, so he knows what that elite level is like. He knows what it takes to get to that level.”

Fanini was a three-year starter as a long-stick midfielder and defenseman and earned four letters for the Valients from 2006-09. He played in 52 career games and recorded 156 groundballs, leading the team with 51 in 2010, and caused 39 turnovers. He served as a team captain in 2009 and earned MAC Academic Honor Roll honors as a junior.

Also active in hockey, he earned one varsity letter with the Valiants, recording two assists against Utica College to help the Valiants secure the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference West title, as well as helping the team reach a ranking of as high as No. 1 in the nation.

Fanini also played Junior A Tier 1 Hockey with the North American Hockey League’s North Iowa Outlaws, with The Westminster School in prep school and he made two national championship appearances with the New Jersey Rockets, reaching the Midget Tier 1 championships in 2002 and the Junior B National Championships in 2003.

Fanini, who graduated from Manhattanville in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance and management, resides in Williamsport.
