Mark Marino is entering his sixth season as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Lycoming College.  He will continue to be actively involved in all aspects of the program, including guard development, the recruitment of Pennsylvania and Maryland area prospects, and sharing the scouting duties of upcoming opponents.

In just five years with the Warriors, Marino has mentored one of the fiercest and most tenacious groups of guards in the Commonwealth Conference, helping Warrior guards earn five all-conference honors and a conference rookie of the year award. In addition, his defensive-minded backcourts have led the league in steals three times and finished second once.

In 2012-13, he helped the Warriors return to the Commonwealth Conference tilt. Along the way, Jerald Williams led all collegiate players in assists, averaging 9.9 per game, and finished fourth in steals and the Warriors led the conference in assist-turnover ratio (1.2), assists (18.2) and steals (10.1).

The Warriors reached the conference title tilt for the second time in Marino's tenure in 2011-12. He helped Williams shatter both the school's career steal and assist marks, as the point guard finished second in the nation in assists.

In 2010-11, Marino helped the Warriors finish 15-10 overall, including a pair of wins over NCAA Tournament teams in Johnson & Wales (R.I.) and Delaware Valley. He also oversaw a backcourt group that led the Commonwealth Conference in assists and steals.

Marino helped guide the 2009-10 Warriors to a No. 1 seed in the Commonwealth  Conference tournament and a bid in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Marino began his coaching career at Francis Scott Key High School in Union Bridge, Md., where he served as the junior varsity head coach and assistant varsity coach during his three-year tenure under Jeff Cook, the school’s leader in all-time victories.

A native of Curwensville, Pa., Marino, who is also a history teacher at Warrior Run High School, graduated in 2001 with a degree in secondary education, in addition to earning a minor in psychology.
