A two-year letterwinner for the Warriors, Malcolm Covington joins the coaching staff in 2015-16 as a student assistant coach while he finishes his degree in business management.
As a senior in 2014-15, the former point guard averaged 4.5 assists per game, the second-best mark in the Commonwealth Conference,, helping him earn Second Team All-Commonwealth Conference honors. He added a 1.74 assist-turnover ratio, which was also second-best in the league. He finished the year with an average of 9.8 points per game and he shot 73 percent (79-of-108) from the free throw line. He provided several highlight reel moments, including two old-fashioned 3-point plays in the overtime win against Albright and another old-fashioned 3-point play at Messiah that gave Lycoming its last points in a 66-64 win. Covington finished his career 10th in school history with 221 assists, while he averaged 8.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in his two years with the program.
With his two years at SUNY Orange factored in, he finished his career with 1062 points, 534 assists and 111 steals.
