After five years as an assistant coach in New York's North Country, Andrew Pond is set for his third season as an assistant coach at Lycoming College in 2024-25. Pond is active in all parts of the program, including recruiting, overseeing the team's managers, logistics, practice preparation, scouting and both practice and game coaching.
In his first year, Pond helped the Warriors to a second-place finish in the MAC Freedom and a 16-10 overall record. The team has produced four all-conference selections during his two years in the program.
Pond came to Lycoming after serving as a volunteer assistant coach with the SUNY Canton men’s basketball program during the 2021-22 academic year, helping the team to an 8-4 record in the North Atlantic Conference and a spot in the conference quarterfinals. Prior to that, he spent two years at Paul Smith’s College, where he served as the interim head women’s basketball coach, head JV men’s basketball coach and assistant coach from 2019-21. He began his coaching career as an assistant with both the men's and women's basketball programs at North Country Community College.
Pond spent four years at SUNY Delhi as a student assistant, starting with the team in 2011-12 team, helping the team to the NJCAA D-III Final Four.Â
A native of Saranac Lake, New York, Pond earned a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University of Irvine in 2021. He received a bachelor’s degree in business and information technology management from SUNY Delhi in 2015 and an associate's degree in recreation and sports management in 2013. He also received an associate's degree from North Country Community College in sports and events management in 2008.Â
