Aaron Winshall is in his second year as an assistant men's basketball coach at Lycoming College. His responsibilities in addition to day-to-day operations will include: recruiting, practice planning, academic supervision, video exchange and coordination of camp programs.
In his first year with the Warriors, he helped the team to the Commonwealth Conference Championship game and a 19-8 record. The tenacious, fast-paced team finished in the top 10 in the nation in assists (fifth, 18.2), assist-turnover ratio (ninth, 1.33) and blocked shots (fourth, 5.8).
Winshall joined the Warriors after serving as the head manager of Syracuse University's men's basketball program in 2010-11. A manager for all four years of his collegiate career, the Orangemen accumulated a 106-37 record during his time on campus, reached the postseason in all four years, went to two NCAA Sweet 16s and earned a No. 1 seed in the 2010 NCAA tournament. As head manager, he was responsible for the supervision of 21 Syracuse student-managers. Additionally, he helped with recruit visits, coordination of off-season workouts and summer training for the incoming freshmen. During the season, Winshall assisted with individual workouts, practices, games and team travel.
During the summers, Winshall helped administer the Jim Boeheim Big Orange Basketball Camp. He also helped at the Mike Hopkins & Gerry McNamara Basketball Academy and with basketball camps at Duke University and the University of Florida.
Originally from Weston, Mass., Winshall attended Weston High School, where he was a member of the boys' basketball team for four years and served as team captain as a senior.
Winshall will graduate with a bachelor of science in sociology from Syracuse in December 2012.
