Adam Matter

A native of Montoursville, Adam Matter is set for his second year at Lycoming College as an assistant field hockey coach in 2025.

In his first year with the team, Matter helped the Warriors to a school-record eight wins and three Landmark Conference wins, nearly earning a berth in the conference championship for the first time since 1976 as the team scored a school-record 26 goals.

Matter served as an assistant women's soccer coach with the Warriors in 2011-12 after three years as a volunteer assistant at Indiana (Pa.). He followed his tenure at Lycoming by spending a season as the head men's soccer coach at Penn College, winning 14 games and being named the PSUAC Coach of the Year. He also worked as an assistant women's soccer coach at Indiana (Pa.) in 2014 before transitioning to field hockey.

Matter did an internship with USA Field Hockey's National Team in 2015, leading to a two-year stint as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia, where he helped the team to a ACC title in 2016. He left Virginia to become the Field Hockey Sport Performance Coach with the Texas Pride, where he has worked for the past seven years.

Matter, who earned a bachelor of science in physical education and sport/exercise science from Indiana (Pa.) in 2010, is a NSCA certified strength and conditioning coach.
