Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — After conceding an early goal, the Lycoming College men's soccer scored the final three of the night to defeat Mount Aloysius College, 3-1, in a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at UPMC Field.
Lycoming (3-2) surrendered a Mt. Aloysius (1-3-2) score just 61 seconds into the match when a rebounded save was punched in by Gonzalez Terricabris. The Mounties nearly doubled their lead in the 12th minute, but keeper Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W. Va / Spring Mills) made a headlong diving save to his right to deny a Rasmus Andersson strike towards the upper right corner.
The Warriors, though, evened the score in the 18th minute when sophomore Max Kocher (Benton, Pa. / Benton Area) found first year Connor Hussman (Bernville, Pa. / Tulpehocken Area) for a header just inside the left post for the equalizer. Lycoming just missed a go-ahead opportunity in the final seconds of the half and entered the break knotted up at one apiece.
Out of halftime, Lycoming controlled the match, outshooting the Mounties, 8-1, after the intermission. The Warriors pulled in front in the 54th minute when sophomore Leandro Cruz (Nottingham, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) stole the ball deep in the Lycoming offensive zone and fired a shot off the keeper's outstretched fingers inside the lower right post for a 2-1 edge.Â
The Warriors added their final tally in the 64th minute when Kocher found first year Dylan Siegel (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg Area) in the middle, who faked two defenders to the turf and froze the opposing keeper before finding the right side.
Hussman and Siegel each notched their first collegiate goals, while Cruz punched in his second of the season. Kocher tallied his first two assists of the year. Bennett earned three saves.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they hit the road to take on Misericordia. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., from Dallas, Pa.
