WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Alpha Mu Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, welcomed its seventh induction class at Lycoming College during a social hour at Sweetspire Coffee on Monday evening, April 6.
 
Chapter Advisor and Associate Director of Athletics Joe Guistina, chapter president, senior member of the volleyball team, Cameron Upcraft (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley), and chapter vice-president, senior member of the field hockey and women's lacrosse teams, Autumn Shahan (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Charter), presented graduation cords to graduating members of the organization and also presented the 26 new members with certificates and pins for their induction.

 The 26 student-athletes come from 13 of Lycoming's 20 different athletic programs and they study 19 different academic disciplines.
 
The criteria for induction to Chi Alpha Sigma requires that the student-athlete must be a member in good standing of a varsity athletics team. The honoree also must achieve at least junior academic standing, having completed at least four full-time semesters at a collegiate institution, and must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade-point average of a 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
 
Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization that was established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. The organization was founded in 1996 by then DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis. His goal was to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime.
