Lycoming benefits from four hat tricks in 20-13 win over Elmira

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year Samuel Hall (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic), junior Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J./Morris Catholic), first-year Garis Tocco (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and sophomore Cesar Carmona-Felipe (Oakland, Calif./Oakland Tech) each finished with a hat trick to pace the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team, which overcame a slow start to post a 20-13 win over Elmira College in non-conference action at UPMC Field on Wednesday, March 11.
 
Hall finished with seven goals, two assists and two groundballs to pace the Warriors (2-4 overall), Wooley added four goals and four assists, Tocco added three goals, two assists and three groundballs and Carmona-Felipe posted three goals, an assist and two groundballs.
 
Sophomore James Hall-Melnychuck (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) finished with three groundballs and two caused turnovers and junior Luis Servin (Manassas City, Va./Osbourne) also added three groundballs.
 
Elmira (0-1 overall) started the game with two goals in the first 2:30 before Hall got on the board off a dish from first-year Kyle Kunes (Joppa, Md./Joppatowne), setting up a four-goal run by the Warriors. The Soaring Eagles came back to tie the game at five with 8:35 left in the second quarter and then took a 7-6 lead with 5:10 left before Tocco, Hall and first-year Ryan MacElhinney (Holmes, N.Y./Carmel) scored in the final five minutes of the first half to take a 9-7 lead into the break.
 
Wooley scored the first two goals of the third quarter, then assisted a goal from Hall, as Lycoming opened up a 15-9 lead by the end of the quarter. After a pair of goals by Elmira opened the fourth quarter, the Warriors scored five of the next six goals to put the game out of reach, with sophomore Jake Lanning (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) adding an assist and a goal on Lycoming's last two scores.
 
Corbin Melie led the Eagles with six goals, Austin Jerzak had four goals and an assist and 23 groundballs.
 
Junior goalkeeper Evan Donnelly (Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spalding) posted 15 saves and grabbed a team-best six groundballs. Isaac Craft notched 10 stops for the Eagles.
 
The Warriors open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, March 21, when they host Drew University at 1 p.m., at UPMC Field.
