WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Senior Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J. / Morris Catholic) posted 10 goals and four assists to set the school-record of 14 points to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team to a 17-2 rout of Wilson College on Saturday, Feb. 28 at UPMC Field.
Block's effort surpassed a 13-point output from Alexa Baldwin on March 2, 2024, leading Lycoming (1-2) to their first victory of the season.
First-year Molly Guifre (Montgomery, N.Y. / Valley Central) started the scoring 90 seconds in the contest when she scored on a free-position shot to give the Warriors their first lead of the campaign. Block then began her scoring spree with a goal 57 seconds later. After Wilson's Sadie Fike scored with 6:45 left in the first period, first year Julia Dammes (Hicksville, N.Y. / Hicksville) answered 29 seconds later. Dammes added another goal and sophomore Summer Emlet (New Cumberland / Red Land) also pocketed a goal, giving Lycoming a 5-1 lead after one period.
In the second, Block scored the first two goals of the period, then assisted on scores from Dammes and Guifre, lifting the Warriors to a 9-2 advantage at the break.
Following the break, Block took over the contest, netting three goals in the third and four more in the final period, with Guifre adding her third goal of the afternoon for the penultimate score of the contest. On the other end, the Warrior defense held Wilson scoreless after halftime.
Block finished with 10 goals, four assists, and six draw controls, while Guifre scored the first three goals of her career, along with three assists. Dammes also added a hat trick, chipping in two assists and four ground balls. Emlet netted her first goal of her career while adding four ground balls. Junior Sarah Spring (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) added an assist, while sophomore keeper Emma Yanders (Kempton, Pa. / Northwestern Lehigh) stopped three shots in goal.
Fike and Paige Ney scored for Wilson, with 12 saves recorded by keeper Kaelyn Goff for Wilson.
The Warriors will be back in action on Monday, March 2, for a non-conference tilt on the road against Immaculata University. Opening draw is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
