SCRANTON, Pa. — Senior attacker Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J. / Morris Catholic) scored her 200th career goal in the first quarter for the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team, then added two more late in a 21-3 setback against Marywood University at Pacers Athletic Field on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Block scored her milestone goal on a free position shot with 5:46 left in the first period, making her the fifth player in program history to reach the 200-goal mark. She then added a second goal with 11:50 left in the contest and her third tally of the night came just under five minutes later, giving her 202 goals for her career, surpassing Jordan Lazarich for fourth-most in school history.
Block finished the night with all three Lycoming goals on five shot attempts, while also tallying four draw controls and causing two turnovers. First-year Julia Dammes (Hicksville, N.Y. / Hicksville) led the Warriors with five ground balls and also caused a pair of turnovers. First-year Rachel Crawford (Bensalem, Pa. / Bensalem) recorded three ground balls and caused a turnover. Sophomore Emma Yanders (Kempton, Pa. / Northwestern Lehigh) stopped 14 shots in goal.
Marywood was led by six goals from Danica Kelly and five goals and four assists from Avery Meighan.
Lycoming will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 28 for their home opener against Wilson College. Opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. at UPMC Field.
