Tocco notches two goals, assist in debut for Warriors

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year Garis Tocco (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) debuted with two goals and an assist to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 18, as Lycoming rallied from a six-goal deficit before falling to King's College, 10-8, in the season opener at UPMC Field.

Junior Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J./Morris Catholic) added a goal and two assists and sophomore James Hall-Melnychuck (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) added a goal, an assist, three ground balls and caused two turnovers for the Warriors. Sophomore Braden Hill (Middletown, Del./Odessa) posted a goal and caused two turnovers and junior Luis Servin (Manassas City, Va./Osbourne) also added three groundballs. First-year Gavin Bicher (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) won 10-of-19 faceoffs and had three groundballs.

Midway through the second quarter, King's held a 6-1 advantage and pushed that to 8-2 at halftime. The Warriors came out of the locker room and scored two goals early in the third, one from Hill and one from first-year Connor Thompson (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) to cut the lead to four. After a King's goal, the Warriors opened the fourth with four straight, closing within 9-8 with 9:37 left after a score from sophomore Cesar Carmona-Felipe (Oakland, Calif./Oakland Tech). That was as close as Lycoming could get, though, with King's adding an insurance score with 4:06 left.

Miles Wilson and Brenden Lynch each had four goals for the Monarchs and Ryan Lynch added a goal and three assists. Josh Hiilpp led the team with five groundballs.

Junior goalkeeper Evan Donnelly (Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spalding) made 11 saves in his debut for the Warriors. Ryan Rickards stopped nine shots in the win for the Monarchs.
