2026 Lycoming College Women's Lacrosse Season Preview

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - If you asked any lacrosse coach about where they would like to start a team from, it's a fair assumption that many would start with a record-breaking offensive player.

For the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team in 2026, the team will get to build around just such a player, as senior Riley Block returns after piling up 196 goals and 237 points in her first three years in Williamsport.

Five other starters return, including all-conference goalkeeper Emma Yanders, as second-year head coach Meaghan Smith will have to replace three 150-point scorers lost to graduation in Katie Maguire (274), Alexa Baldwin (195) and Kailey Stocker (152). With a group of six first-year players and three more players new to the team this year, the Warriors are restocked as the season gets underway on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Misericordia.

I am really happy with how we have been practicing, the effort and the skill development that we have shown. We needed to bring in a talented group of first-year players because of how talented last year's senior class was and we did that. I think this group can rise to the challenge of a tough Landmark Conference if we keep improving and focusing on the details.

Senior Riley Block heads the attack unit, as the Hopatcong, N.J., native led the Landmark Conference and finished 14th in Division III in goals, scoring 4.56 goals per game during her junior year. She enters her senior season four goals shy of becoming the fifth player in school history to reach 200 career goals and 82 points from the school record of 319 set by Kelly McGinniss (2016-19). Block, who was also a two-time all-conference goalkeeper in soccer, also notched 28 ground balls, caused 23 turnovers and picked up 97 draw controls during her junior season.
Junior Mychaela McDowell also returns to the attack after she played in seven games last year, scoring once. First-year Lilian Quigley will also step into the attack unit this season.

Junior Sarah Spring, sophomore Marissa Price and sophomore Summer Emlet will lead a young group in the midfield.

Spring, a two-year starter, posted two goals and an assist in 2025, grabbing 19 ground balls and causing three turnovers. Emlet, who is also a guard on the basketball team, started 11 games during her rookie year, picking up four ground balls and causing two turnovers and Price, a goalkeeper on the soccer team, started seven games, scoring three goals, picking up 11 ground balls and causing three turnovers.

First-years Julie Dammes and Molly Giufre will also see significant playing time at the position.

Senior Autumn Shahan, a two-year starter on defense, will again lead the unit. The Wilmington, Del., native notched 23 ground balls and caused nine turnovers during 2025.

Junior Maddie Kracker started 13 games, picking up four ground balls and causing two turnovers and junior Molly Strayer returns after seeing time in six games in 2025 and senior Gabriella Fugon also returns after plating in five games and causing a turnover in her first year on the squad.

Four newcomers will also vie for time on the defensive end - senior Anna Glantz, junior Haley Balgavy, sophomore Angela Farnham and first-year Rachel Crawford. Both Balgavy and Farnham are also members of the volleyball team.

After earning Honorable Mention All-Landmark Conference honors while playing every minute in goal in 2025 for the Warriors, sophomore Emma Yanders returns as the frontrunner in the cage. Yanders stopped 167 shots, saving 42 percent during her rookie year and posting an 8-8 record.
First-years Erica Gilligan and Riley Pool also have the ability to see time between the pipes.
