WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Sophomore Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa / Jersey Shore Area) scored a career-high 17 points and senior Allison Fisher (Pinehurst, N.C. / Burrell) drained six 3-pointers to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team to a 65-58 victory in a Landmark Conference matchup against Wilkes University on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at the Marts Center.
Lycoming (7-11, 3-8) hit 11 three-pointers to shoot their way to their second win of a three-game road swing, securing the season sweep of Wilkes (4-14, 1-10) in the process.
Down by four at halftime, Lycoming scored 21 third-quarter points and 40 points in total in the second half, shooting over 48 percent from the field after the break. Lycoming took the lead for good on a 3-pointer from senior Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) that put the Warriors ahead 45-42 in the final minute of the third quarter, growing the lead to as many as 14 points in the final quarter as they kept the Colonels at arm's length.
The Warriors ran neck-and-neck with the Colonels in the first quarter, finishing the first 10 minutes deadlocked at 18 apiece. Wilkes held the Warriors to just seven points in the second period to take a 29-25 lead into the half.
Fisher led the way with 18 points on 6-for-14 shooting behind the arc, setting a career high in triples and chipping in six rebounds and three assists. McCracken poured in her career-best 17 points on 7-for-15 shooting, adding three assists and three steals. Abdo contributed 13 points, including a trio of threes, with five boards and three assists. Junior Ann-Marie McMurtrie (Centre Hall, Pa. / Penns Valley) cleaned up the glass with a career-high 13 rebounds.
Delaney Bogdan led Wilkes with nine points, while Charlotte Taylor and Yamirelis Matos each scored eight points.
The Warriors will return home for a Landmark Conference tilt against Drew University on Saturday, Jan. 31. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Inside Lamade Gymnasium.
