HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Sophomores Summer Emlet (New Cumberland, Pa. / Red Land) and Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) each recorded double-doubles to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball back from an 11-point deficit in a 63-58 overtime victory in Landmark Conference action at Juniata College on Wednesday night, Jan. 21, at the Kennedy Center.
Lycoming (6-10, 2-7) earned their first overtime victory since a double-overtime triumph on November 8, 2023, scoring 42 of their 62 points after halftime to stun Juniata (4-12, 2-7).
After trailing by one at half and allowing a 10-0 run to start the third quarter, the Warriors slowly chipped away over the final 15 minutes, first tying the game at 37 apiece with 8:09 to play and evening the score again at 47 with 3:01 to go.
Juniata took a three-point lead in the final minute, but once again, the Warriors responded, as Emlet drilled a game-tying jumper with seven seconds left to send the game to overtime, knotted at 51 apiece.
Playing an extra session for the first time this year, the Warriors fell behind 56-54 just over two minutes in, but junior Alyssa Reisinger (Kulpmont, Pa. / Mount Carmel Area) scored five straight points to start a 9-0 run that swung the momentum back to Lycoming's side for good, converting an old-fashioned 3-point play to give the Wariors the lead.
Reisinger matched a season high with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while pulling down five rebounds. McCracken tallied 12 points on 6-for-13 shooting with a career-high 10 rebounds, while Emlet notched career highs with 10 points and 14 rebounds, while also draining a pair of three-pointers.
Seniors Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) and Allison Fisher (Pinehurst, N.C.) each scored eight points, while Abdo added three assists and Fisher pulled in five rebounds.
Bri Bodtorf led Juniata with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Makenna Hartman added 10 points and 11 boards, with Laney Gerdich (11 points) and Olivia Berg (10 points) also in double figures.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24, when they hit the road once more for a road tilt at the Catholic University of America. Tip-off from Franny Murray Court is scheduled for 4 p.m.
