WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—The Lycoming College volleyball team won its fourth match in a row with a straight-sets victory, 25-13, 25-16, 25-18, over Houghton on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Lamade Gym.
Lycoming (8-6) led the entire way in the first two sets, while the third and final set was back-and-forth to start off, with Houghton (4-5) leading 13-11 before the Warriors went on a 7-0 run that put them in front for good.
First-year Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wash./Sutton) led the Warriors with nine kills, to go along with a team high-tying 14 assists and three aces. First-year Emi Wenger (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) added eight kills and 13 digs, while junior Haley Balgavy (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) chipped in 14 assists and a team-leading four aces.
Also chipping in, junior Ima Mercado (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) posted a team-high 15 digs, while first-year Charlene Petreshock (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) tallied six kills and senior Cameron Upcraft (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley) added five more kills of her own to go with a team-high three blocks.
Lycoming dominated Houghton in kills (37-20), assists (33-19), aces (9-2), and hitting percentage (.258 to -.012) in the victory.
The Warriors will next see action on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Keystone College in their final match before beginning conference play the following weekend. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
