Ella Magee (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) to lift the Lycoming College women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Utica University on Friday afternoon, Aug. 29, at Laura Casamento Stadium.
Utica (0-1 overall) opened the scoring in the 32
nd minute, but the Warriors (1-0 overall) responded in the 44
th minute as senior
Aubrey Williamson (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) found the back of the net on a give from senior
Claudia Green (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) to even the score.
The Warriors outshot the Pioneers, 26-10, and that effort paid off late with Long's game-winner.
Senior
Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) earned the win, making six saves in 80 minutes, while sophomore
Marissa Price (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) also played 10 shutout minutes. Emily Duro and Hanna Pcola combined to make 12 saves for the Pioneers.
The Warriors travel across I-90 to face Buffalo State in non-conference action on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m., to wrap up the weekend.
