Woobay scores in Lycoming opener

ASTON, Pa. – Senior Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) scored off a free kick in the 81st minute to tie the game for the Lycoming College men's soccer team, but a last-minute goal helped Neumann University notch a 2-1 win at the Turf Stadium on Friday evening, Aug. 29.
 
Neumann (1-0 overall) scored in the 18th minute and Jordan Illian scored the game=winner in the 90th minute in response to Woobay's 16th career goal, the game-tyer in the 81st minute.
 
Sophomore Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) notched three saves in net for the Warriors (0-1 overall) and Carson Metzger stopped one shot for the Knights.
 
The Warriors are back on the field on Saturday, Aug. 30, when they head to Widener for a 4 p.m. game.
