HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Rain halted the game on April 15 with the score tied at three and the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the fourth and all momentum headed in Juniata College's direction. A double play thanks to an outfield assist from junior right fielder
Josh Bottger (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wilkes-Barre Area) got momentum back on the Lycoming College baseball team's side to restart the halted game on Friday, May 2, and Lycoming scored seven runs in a 10-5 Landmark Conference win at Langdon-Goodall Field.
Â
The win ensures Lycoming (21-19 overall, 12-12 Landmark) its first winning season since a 7-5 campaign in 1970. Catholic (21-16 overall, 12-10 Landmark) clinched the fourth seed with a 10-1 win over Drew for their 12
th win of the season. Susquehanna and Lycoming are vying for the fifth slot, with Susquehanna (17-20 overall, 10-11 Landmark) needing to win two of three games at Moravian this weekend.
Â
If Lycoming does clinch the No. 5 seed, it will play in a first-round game at No. 4 seeded Catholic on Tuesday, May 6, at 1:30 p.m., before advancing to the double-elimination tournament from May 9-11, at Penn Medicine Park in Lancaster, Pa.
