WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - First-year Kayvan Shams (Williamsport, Pa. / South Williamsport) secured a singles win for the Lycoming College men's tennis team at No. 4 against Juniata College in a 6-1 Landmark Conference setback on Wednesday afternoon, April 23, at Brandon Park.
In No. 4 singles, Shams fell 6-4 in the first set against Dillon Murphy. In the second set, Shams rallied to a 6-1 victory, and he followed up with a 10-3 finish in the tiebreaker.
In No. 5 singles, senior Mohamed Ebeid (Cairo, Egypt / Egyptian British International School) fell 7-5, 6-2 in a tight competition against Come Burghgraeve.
In No. 6 singles, senior Luke Taylor (Williamsport, Pa. / Word of Life Bible Institute) also rallied in a 6-1, 6-4 setback against Juniata's Gustaf Germia.
The Warriors fell to 0-14 overall and 0-7 in the Landmark. Juniata improved to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the Landmark.
The Warriors travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on Thursday, April 24, to compete against Wilkes University in Landmark Conference action at 3 p.m.
