WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After setting the Lycoming College baseball team's record for wins in a season, junior Jake Wilber (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) was selected as the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, April 21.
Wilber threw 7 1/3 innings in a 6-3 win over Moravian on Friday, allowing three hits, four walks and two runs, as he struck out three to win his fifth game of the season. He retired 19 of the first 20 batters he faced, setting down the Greyhounds in order five times in the first six innings before the no-hit bid was broken up with one-out in the seventh.
Wilber is tied for fifth in the Landmark Conference with five wins and fourth with 45 innings pitched. He sits 16th with 24 strikeouts and 14th with a 4.80 ERA. He also holds the school's career record with eight wins.
Wilber is the fourth Warrior to earn Athlete of the Week honors this year. He followed junior Brody Lindsey (Monrovia, Md./DeMatha Catholic) on Feb. 18, sophomore Eric MacCluen (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) on March 17, and sophomore Sean Perkins (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) on March 31.
Wilber is the second Warrior to earn the Landmark's Pitcher of the Week award, joining Noah Miller, who earned the award on May 6, 2024.
The Warriors return to Brandon Park on Tuesday, April 22, to play against Marywood University in non-conference action at 4 p.m.
