BETHLEHEM, Pa.- First-year Ryder Gehris (Barto, Pa. / Boyertown Area) led the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team with three goals as it fell, 25-6, at Moravian University in Landmark Conference action on Saturday afternoon, April 19, at John Makuvek Field.
Senior Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) secured 15 saves in the cage for the Warriors (6-8 overall, 2-6 Landmark), giving him 958 career saves, 10th in Division III history.
Gehris started the Warriors' scoring a minute into the second quarter. Senior Sean Farrell (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) assisted Gehris's goal and followed up with one of his own in the fourth minute.
Returning from halftime, senior Shayne Wilson (Smyrna, Del. / Smyrna) darted down the field to secure Lycoming's third goal with nine minutes remaining.
Five minutes into the fourth quarter, Gehris and Farrell teamed up again to post a goal. In the seventh minute, sophomore Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J. / Morris Catholic) threw the ball to Gehris, who flung it into the back of the cage. Senior Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) followed up to add another goal, which senior Jakob Switzer (West Pittston, Pa. / Wycoming Area) assisted with 4:45 left in the game.
Switzer picked up six ground balls to help Lycoming's defensive efforts, and sophomore Jose Servin(Manassas City, Va. / Osbourne) followed with five.
Moravian's Liam Kelly, Sean Boyer and Thomas Lee combined to stop four of Lycoming's shots. Ryan Kokoszka led the Greyhounds (9-5 overall, 5-3 Landmark) with five goals, and Nick Coffaro followed with three. Five athletes scored two goals for the Greyhounds, including Trevor Dzama, Aaron Judge, Nick Sullivan, Hunter Klapmuts and Dan Kelly.
The Warriors return to UPMC Field on Saturday, April 26, to play against Goucher College in Landmark Conference action at 1 p.m.
