WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - First-year Sadie Stahl (Duboistown, Pa. / South Williamsport) and senior Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) earned both singles and doubles wins to lead the Lycoming College women's tennis team in a 4-3 setback against Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action on Saturday afternoon, March 29, at Brandon Park.
Senior Rei Saar (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area) won the first set of her No. 1 singles match against the River Hawks' Alexa Wanamaker, 7-6 (2), before falling short in the second set by 6-4. Saar rallied in the third set, winning 6-2.
Stahl also snagged a 6-4, 7-5 win over Mackenzie Romig in No. 2 singles.
Lanphear fell 6-3 in her first set of No. 3 singles against Katherine Yoder before making a 6-1 comeback in the second set. Lanphear rallied to a 6-4 finish in the third set to earn Lycoming's third point from singles play.
Stahl and Lanphear also won their No. 2 doubles match against Kaiya Reisinger and Amelia Maguire with a 6-2 win.
The Warriors fell to 8-4 overall and 0-4 in the Landmark Conference. Susquehanna improved to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the Landmark Conference.
The Warriors travel to Scranton, Pa., on Wednesday, April 2, to compete against the University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action at 3:30 p.m.
