Lanphear, Stahl win singles matches against Elizabethtown

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Senior Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) and first-year Sadie Stahl (Duboistown, Pa. / South Williamsport) each won their singles matches against Elizabethtown College to lead the Lycoming College women's tennis team on Senior Day as the team fell, 5-2, in Landmark Conference action at the Central PA Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon, April 12.  

Stahl secured a point in No. 3 singles against Adriana Burmeister. Stahl fell 7-6 (11) in the first set, rallied in the second set to a 6-4 win, and claimed a 7-6 (5) victory in the third set to break the tie. 

Lanphear also won her No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-1, against Elizabethtown's Katie Balzano to add a point for Lycoming. 

In No. 1 doubles, senior Rei Saar (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area) and junior Emma Kelchner (Nescopeck, Pa. / Central Columbia) claimed a 6-3 victory over Elizabethtown's Haley Bishop and Gabriella Palladini. Saar also had a close No. 1 singles match against Bishop, winning the first set, 6-3. Bishop followed up with a 7-6 (2) win in the second and a 6-4 win in the third set.

Stahl and Lanphear also teamed up in No. 2 doubles against Elizabethtown's Burmeister and Balzano, falling 6-3. Juniors Greta Kimble (South Williamsport, Pa. / South Williamsport) and Cassandra Conner (Lebanon, Pa. / Lebanon) also fell in No. 3 doubles against Taylor Dukes and Hannah Walker, 6-3.

The Warriors fell to 8-5 overall and 0-5 in the Landmark Conference. The Blue Jays improved to 3-8 overall and 1-7 in the Landmark Conference.  

The women's tennis team will travel to Scranton, Pa., on Tuesday, April 15, for Landmark Conference action against the University of Scranton at 3:30 p.m.
