NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – Sophomores
Will Eberz (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and
Connor Shanahan (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) led the Lycoming College men's golf team on the first day at the DeSales Classic with scores in the 80s at the par-72, 6,615-yard Olde Homestead Golf Course on Friday afternoon, March 28.
Eberz fired his fourth straight round of 82, notching nine pars and adding a birdie on the par-5, 531-yard No. 12. Shanahan posted an 84, notching six parts and birdies on the par-4, 416-yard No. 6 and the par-3, 187-yard No. 9.
Sophomore
Ross Eyer (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) added a 94, birdieing No. 12 as well, and sophomore
Christian Eppley (Woodbridge, Va./Colgan) rounded out the scoring four with a 96 in his collegiate golf debut. Senior
Branson Dodson (Duncansville, Pa./Central) had a 111.
The Warriors are in 13
th in the tournament after a first-day 356. Drew and Albright are tied for the lead with a four-over-par 292. Drew's Eliot Parker leads the 68-man field at 4-under par.
The tournament continues on Saturday, March 29, with the final round, set to begin at 11 a.m.
