Maguire scored four goals in setback against Stockton

GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. - Senior Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y. / Albertus Magnus) scored four goals for the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team as it faced an 18-5 setback against Stockton University in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon, March 2, at the Stockton Turf Field.

Maguire contributed five points for Lycoming (2-2 overall) as she also added an assist. Senior Alexa Baldwin (Bel Air, Md. / Harford Tech) and junior Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J. / Morris Catholic) each added a point, with Block scoring and Baldwin assisting a goal. Block also had seven draw controls.

In the cage for the Warriors, first-year Emma Yanders (Kempton, Pa. / Northwestern Lehigh) made 12 saves. Jordan Czaczkowski and Nzingha Smith-Vance served as the goalkeepers for Stockton (2-1 overall), clocking two saves each.

Less than a minute after Stockton's second goal, Maguire pushed down the field to score the Warriors' first point with 10:39 on the clock, assisted by Baldwin. At 3:42, Maguire returned for a free position shot, launching the ball to the back of the cage for her second goal of the game. With 30 seconds left until halftime, Block ushered down the field, caught the ball from Maguire and drove it into the cage for Lycoming's third goal. Stockton entered the break with a 10-point advantage, 13-3.

Maguire scored her third goal of the game in the fifth minute of the fourth quarter off a free position shot. Maguire followed up two minutes later with her fourth goal of the game with 8:44 on the clock, as she finished the contest with 194 goals in her career, six from becoming the fourth player in program history to post 200.

Madison Macgillivray had six goals and Julia Gibson added three goals to lead Stockton's offensive efforts. Margot Costello and Brianna Robinson each contributed two goals.

The Warriors return to UPMC Field on Thursday, March 6, to play SUNY Canton at 4 p.m. in non-conference action.
