NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Lycoming College softball team's lineup combined to hit .400 on Friday, March 14, Lycoming swept its last set of games on its spring break trip, beating Centernary University (N.J.), 8-4, and Vermont State University Castleton, 7-0.

Claire Alexander (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) went 3-for-4 with two runs, a double, an RBI and a stolen base, junior second baseman
Alex Eckerson (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) went 3-for-7 with two runs and two RBI, senior catcher
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) had a triple, three runs and two RBI, junior third baseman
Hailee Sobieski (Wharton, N.J./Morris Catholic) had two hits and an RBI and senior outfielder and pitcher
Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) went 3-for-7 with a run and RBI. Junior outfielder
Mallory Rodarmel (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock Township) was 3-for-6 with two runs and first-year
Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) was 3-for-6 with two runs and three RBI.

Eiswerth also tossed four innings in relief during the day, retiring all 12 batters she faced and striking out six, as she became the seventh pitcher in program history to reach 200 career strikeouts.

A five-run second inning broke open the game with Centenary (1-6 overall), as Lycoming (6-1 overall) posted an 8-4 win.

First-year designated player
Ashley Forrest (Red Hill, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) started the second-inning rally with a single before Rodarmel singled, allowing Forrest to score on an error. Two batters later, McCracken tripled to right to bring in Rodarmel. Alexander followed with a walk before Eckerson singled, setting up Daub, who tripled to left.

After the Cyclones scored two runs in the third, Forrest walked with one out in the bottom of the inning, moved to second on a single by Rodarmel, third on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout.

In the fourth, Alexander reached on a single, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a single from Eckerson. After a fielder's choice and a hit batter, Eiswerth singled in Lycoming's eighth run.

Jaelynn Miller (1-4) was 2-for-4 with a run, a triple and RBI for Centenary. She pitched two innings, allowing five hits and five runs.
McCracken (2-1) earned the win with three innings of relief, allowing two hits, two runs and a walk.

Another five-run inning, this time in the third inning, helped lift Lycoming to a 7-0 win over Castleton (2-4 overall) to wrap up the team's time in Myrtle Beach.

Eckerson helped the Warriors get on the board in the first, as she hit an infield single, took second when Daub walked and scored on an RBI single from Sobieski. A double steal attempt brought Daub in.

In the third inning, Daub got the rally started with a walk, stole second, moved to third on a single by Eiswerth and scored on a double steal. Rodarmel followed with an RBI single and Forrest also reached with a single before McCracken belted a two-out two-RBI double. Alexander also doubled in the fifth run of the frame.

Sophomore
Kendall McAnelly (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (1-0) pitched four shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out one. Eiswerth retired nine in a row in three innings of work, striking out five for her second save of the season.

Lauren Ross (0-2) pitched 2 1/3 innings for Castleton, allowing five hits and four runs. Kayleigh Osterhaut was 2-for-3 to lead the Spartan offense.

The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, March 18, when they head to Albright College for a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.
