Eiswerth strikes out 12 in win over Delaware Valley as Warriors split pair

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – In the first game on Thursday, March 13, senior Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) tossed a complete-game six-hitter, striking out a career-high 12 in the 6-2 win over Delaware Valley University at the Sports Complex. The team succumbed to a three-run seventh-inning rally in the second game, falling to Immaculata University, 4-3, in the Central Park Complex.
 
Junior third baseman Hailee Sobieski (Wharton, N.J./Morris Catholic) went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and three RBI to pace the Warrior offense. Senior catcher Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area) was 2-for-3 with a run, a RBI and a stolen base and junior shortstop Claire Alexander (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) was 2-for-3 with two runs. The top four batters in the lineup finished 7-for-10 with five runs and four RBI.
 
The Warriors (4-1 overall) got on the board in the first when Alexander singled through the left side, took second on a bunt, third on an infield single from Daub and scored on a sac fly from Sobieski. The Warriors broke open the game with five runs in the third inning. First-year Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) reached on an error, Alexander and Eckerson singled and Daub reached on a fielder's choice, where McCracken outran the resulting through to the plate for the second run. Sobieski followed with a single up the middle for two runs and after a pop-out, Eiswerth drilled a single into left center.
 
The Aggies (4-2 overall) scored a pair of runs in the sixth, using two singles and a two-RBI double, but Eiswerth got her 11th strikeout of the game looking to end the inning. She retired the side 1-2-3 in the seventh.
 
Kenzie Boyd (2-1) pitched two innings, allowing five hits and four earned runs for the Aggies. She struck out one. Amelia Funston was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
 
Daub, Eckerson and McCracken each had two hits in the second game to pace the Warriors, who led by two runs heading into the seventh inning against the Mighty Macs (2-2 overall).
 
Lycoming got on the board in the second inning when Eiswerth reached on an error, took second on a sac bunt, third on a groundout and scored on a two-out single by McCracken. In the third, Daub led off with a double, took third on a single from Sobieski and scored on a double steal.
 
Immaculata cut into the lead with a run in the sixth before Lycoming got the run back in the top of the seventh, when Eckerson singled to lead off and scored on Daub's second double of the game.
 
Steph Kelly and Jess Oldham each had two hits and Rylee Martin had two RBI for Immaculata.
 
Nadia Bhuiyan (1-0) earned the win, allowing nine hits and two earned runs. She walked three and struck out two. Sophomore Kendall McAnelly (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) pitched six innings, allowing six hits, a walk and an unearned run. She struck out two. McCracken (1-1) allowed three hits and one earned run.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Friday, March 14, when they face Centenary (N.J.) at 9 a.m. and Vermont State Castleton at 11 a.m.
