Warriors fall in first Landmark postseason appearance

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – First-year Laurel Fite (Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry) tied the game with a second-quarter goal, but third-seeded Elizabethtown College scored the last four goals of the game to get past the sixth-seeded Lycoming College field hockey team in a Landmark Conference Championship first round game on Saturday evening, Nov. 1, at Wolf Field.

After Sara Watson scored in the opening minutes of the game, the Warriors (10-8) responded in the fifth minute of the second quarter when sophomore Lacy Eckard (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) found Fite for her eighth goal of the season. Eckard, meanwhile, notched her team-leading sixth assist.

The Blue Jays (10-9) broke the tie 161 seconds later with a Drew Bridges goal, before they added one more goal in each of the final three quarters.

Senior Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) posted 10 saves in the final game of her career, where she finished her career with 602 saves and won a program-record eight games as a junior before breaking that mark with 10 this season.

Lycoming, loaded with nine seniors, eight of whom were in the lineup when the team returned from a 30-year absence on campus in 2022, reached the Landmark Conference Championship for the first time and the postseason for the first time since the 1977 team played in the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament.

Elizabethtown heads to No. 2 Susquehanna on Tuesday, Nov. 4, for the Landmark Conference semifinal.
