Warriors split Saturday action with sweep of CCNY

MADISON, N.J.—The Lycoming College volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) to Drew University in a Landmark Conference match, but bounced back to sweep CCNY, 25-16, 25-16, 25-17, in a non-conference match to split a pair of matches at Baldwin Gym on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Lycoming (10-8, 0-2) was unable to pick up their first conference win over Drew (4-12, 1-1), but have now secured sweeps in each of their last three non-conference matches with the victory over CCNY (3-11).

The CCNY match saw the Warriors go on a 9-0 run to break open an 11-11 tie in the first set, a 12-0 run early in the second set, and finish the third and final set on a 17-7 tear after CCNY took the lead early on.

In the second match, first-year Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wash. / Sultan) led the way with nine kills, 14 assists, and three aces, first-year Emi Wenger (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) and first-year Charlene Petreshock (Warwick, N.Y. / Warwick Valley) each had eight kills, first-year Gabrielle VonStein (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) racked up 11 digs, and junior Haley Balgavy (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) tallied 11 assists and three aces, while the Warriors hit a robust .363 as a team.

In the first match, the Warriors were led by Petreshock with six kills, while Skieth tallied five kills and a team-leading eight digs. First-year Addison Morgan (Bethlehem, Pa. / Northampton) added a team-leading six assists and senior Cameron Upcraft (Spring Mills, Pa. / Penns Valley) posted five blocks.

The Warriors return to Lamade Gym on Wednesday, Oct. 8 for their final non-conference match of the season: a crosstown tilt with Penn College. The match will get underway at 7 p.m.
