WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Lycoming College volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over crosstown rival Penn College, winning 25-9, 25-12, 25-14 on Wednesday night, Oct. 8, at Lamade Gymnasium.
Lycoming (11-8) hit .388 as a team and did not trail the entire match as they secured their second sweep in a row, allowing just 35 points to Penn College (4-16), the fewest allowed by the Warriors since allowing 34 points to Wilson on Sept. 17, 2022.
The Warriors roared out of the gate in the first set, blowing up a close set early (5-4) with a 20-4 run to close the set. Lycoming built a 9-2 lead in the second set and never looked back. The third set saw the Warriors score the first five points and keeping the Wildcats at bay to secure the sweep.
First-year Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wa. / Sultan) led the Warriors with eight kills, seven assists and three aces. First year Charlene Petreshock (Warwick, N.Y. / Warwick Valley) added six kills. Junior Haley Balgavy (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) racked up a team-high 15 assists and three aces, while junior Ima Mercado (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata) had a team-high eight digs plus a pair of aces.
The Warriors will play their first Landmark Conference home match on Friday, Oct. 10 when they welcome the Catholic University of America to Lamade Gym. The match will begin at 6 p.m.
