Records fall in shutout win over Juniata

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.  Sophomore Ella Magee (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) broke a pair of scoring records as the Lycoming College women's soccer team scored twice in the first half and kept Juniata College at arms-length in a 2-0 Landmark Conference victory on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at UPMC Field.

Lycoming (16-1, 6-1) also set a new program record with their 16th victory of the season, shutting out Juniata (5-6-4, 1-4-2) for the Warriors' seventh shutout of the season and second in a row. The Warriors also secured one of the six spots in the 2025 Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Championship.

It didn't take long for the Warriors to jump in front, as junior Mikayla Long (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) found the back of the net on a header in the fifth minute off a pass from senior Abigail Umhoefer (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Our Lady of Lourdes), Long's tenth goal of the season.

Less than ten minutes later, the Warriors doubled the lead, as Umhoefer snuck a shot past the Juniata keeper off passes from Long and Magee in the 15th minute. Magee was credited with her 13th assist and 41st point of the season, both of which set new single-season program records, surpassing the mark of 12 assists set by Beth Weixel in 2004 and 40 points set by Jordan Lazarich in 2016.

That was the final tally of the match as nearly 75 minutes of scoreless play closed out the contest. The Warriors totaled 15 shots, 13 of them on goal.

The Eagles came up empty on their ten shots (six on goal), with senior keeper Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J. / Morris Catholic) stopping six shots in her fifth clean sheet of the season and 14th of her career, as well as her 30th career victory in goal, moving within two wins of the school-record of 32 career wins set by Jessica Bennett from 2004-07.

The Warriors will play their final home match of the regular season in the River Derby against Susquehanna University on Saturday, Oct. 25 at UPMC Field. The match will get underway at 1 p.m.
