WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore
Ella Magee (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) became the fifth Lycoming College women's soccer player to reach 15 goals in a season with a 30-yard dart to tie the game, as Lycoming earned a 1-1 draw with Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna University to retain the River Derby Cup on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25, at UPMC Field.
Magee has notched 15 goals and 13 assists this year, sitting in a tie for second in goals and setting the program record for assists.
Her goal on Saturday came in the final minute of the first half after Susquehanna (8-8-2 overall, 3-3-2 Landmark) scored off a corner kick in the third minute. After junior
Mikayla Long (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) drew a foul, Magee lined up and found the upper right corner with a direct kick.
Susquehanna had eight second-half shots and Lycoming (16-1-1 overall, 6-1-1 Landmark) five, but neither could break the tie.
Senior
Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) finished with six saves for Lycoming. Katie Henchy stopped three for Susquehanna.
The Warriors wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 28, when they head to Wilkes University for a 7 p.m. Landmark Conference win, where a win would ensure the team a berth in the Landmark Conference Championship semifinal and a No. 2 seed in the tournament.
