WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—First year Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wa. / Sultan) posted a triple-double of 15 kills, 15 assists, and 13 digs as the Lycoming College volleyball team fell 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-22) in a Landmark Conference matchup against the Catholic University of America on Friday, Oct. 10 at Lamade Gym.
The Warriors (11-9, 0-3) took the first set, holding off a late Catholic (7-10, 3-0) rally to win 25-22, only for the Cardinals to take set two. In the third set, the Warriors jumped out to 7-1 lead, but a 14-3 run propelled Catholic to a 25-20 win.
The fourth and final set saw Catholic jump in front, only for the Warriors to battle back and even the set at 22 apiece, but the Cardinals scored the last three points to take the match.
Skeith led the Warriors in kills (15) and digs (13) in her fifth triple-double of the year, as she hit .406 in the match, while junior Haley Balgavy (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) led Lycoming with 17 assists. First year Charlene Petreshock (Warwick, N.Y. / Warwick Valley) and senior Cameron Upcraft (Spring Mills, Pa. / Penns Valley) each tallied seven kills, while junior Ima Mercado (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata) added ten digs. Upcraft also had a team-high three blocks.
Julia Raab posted 17 kills and 13 digs to lead Catholic, Kate Berra had 27 assists and Caroline Welsh posted three blocks.
The Warriors will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 11 at 12 p.m. for a Landmark Conference matchup against Goucher College at Lamade Gym.
