WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — First-year Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wa. / Sultan) racked up 16 kills and a career-high 24 assists to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team past Goucher, 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21), in a Landmark Conference match on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Lamade Gym.
Lycoming (12-9, 1-3) took control of the first set with an early 12-2 run before Goucher (6-11, 0-3) came back to take the second set. The Warriors, however, used a 13-4 run midway through the third set to take control of that stanza, then finished the match on an 11-4 run after falling behind 17-14 in the fourth and final set.
Skieth was one kill shy of a career high, while her 24 assists tied junior Haley Balgavy's (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) total from Sept. 20 against Albright for the most by a Warrior this season. For her part, Balgavy added 21 assists, senior Cameron Upcraft (Spring Mills, Pa. / Penns Valley) and junior Alli Macensky (Galeton, Pa. / Galeton Area) each contributed 10 kills, and junior Ima Mercado (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata) chipped in a team-high 17 digs. First year Emi Wenger (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) narrowly missed a double-double at nine kills and nine digs.
Goucher's Lucy Hendricks had 12 kills and 12 digs to lead the Gophers, who also picked up 15 assists from Alex Jordan and 13 assists from Sofia Ortiz.
The Warriors will be back at Lamade Gym on Tuesday, Oct. 14 for a Landmark Conference matchup with No. 5 Juniata. The match will get underway at 7 p.m.
