Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Valentine, Pardoe combine for 43 at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) notched 23 points and eight rebounds and junior Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added 20 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, which fell to hot-shooting Lebanon Valley College, 88-78, in the team's final non-conference game of the season at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Pardoe and Valentine were two of the Warriors' four players in double figures, as senior Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) and first-year Gyasi Miller (Philadelphia, Pa./Shipley School) each had 11, with Komitski posting four assists. Sophomore Connor Shanahan (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) added six points and two assists.

The Warriors (2-9 overall) shot 57 percent from the field in the first half, helping it take a 47-46 lead into halftime. The Flying Dutchmen (6-5 overall) shot 52 percent for the game (32-of-62) and held the Warriors to 41 percent from the field in the second half (12-of-29).

Down nine at 21-12 seven minutes into the game, the Warriors went on a 18-7 run over the next six minutes to take a 30-28 lead off a trey from Komitski with 6:20 left in the half. The Warriors kept the momentum, leading 47-40 after an old-fashioned 3-point play from Valentine with 1:43 left in the half before Lebanon Valley scored the last six points of the period.

The Dutchmen used a 18-5 run that started five minutes into the second half to take control and lead, 72-59 with 9:13 left. The Warriors cut the gap in half with less than a minute left after a driving layup from Pardoe made it 83-76 with 25 seconds left, but that was as close as they could get.

Jason Penn led the Dutchmen with 22 points and Evin Timochenko added 20 points and five rebounds.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Jan. 8, when they host the Catholic University of America at 4 p.m. to cap a Landmark Conference doubleheader after the women's teams play at 2 p.m.
