Dufner, Reisinger lead Warriors against Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -  Senior Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional) led the way with 13 points and sophomore Alyssa Reisinger (Kulpmont, Pa. / Mount Carmel Area) added 12 to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team in a 74-54 setback at Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday evening, Jan. 15, at O.W. Houts Gymnasium. 

Besides leading the team in points, Dufner also filled the stat sheet with seven rebounds, five assists and a steal. Reisinger recorded six rebounds, an assist and a block, and junior Allison Fisher (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell) also contributed nine points, canning two 3-pointers. 

Reisinger jumped out for Lycoming (2-12 overall, 1-6 Landmark Conference) by hitting a turn around shot to start the first quarter. Dufner followed up by making a driving layup in the second minute. Senior Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa. / North Schuylkill) added a 3-pointer four minutes later. Reisinger returned with two free throws and sophomore Makenna Hartman(Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) added a layup in the final minute of the game, but the Warriors ended the first period at an eight-point disadvantage, 19-11.

To kick off the second quarter, Reisinger hit a layup to begin the Warriors' scoring. Fisher turned around and made a 3-pointer in the third minute, and Dufner followed up with another 3-pointer in the sixth minute. Reisinger contributed two more free throws with 15 seconds on the clock, but Susquehanna entered halftime with a 43-21 advantage.

Dufner canned a 3-pointer in the first 10 seconds of the third quarter, then added a layup and a free throw later in the period. Fisher followed suit with a driving layup and free throw a minute later. Reisinger posted a free throw in the seventh minute and quickly returned with a layup and another free throw a minute later. Dufner and sophomore Sydnie Stone (Muncy Valley, Pa. / Montoursville Area) secured jumpers within a minute of each other. Lycoming ended the quarter behind the River Hawks, 53-38. 

Fisher drained a 3-pointer to begin the Warriors' scoring in the fourth quarter. Senior Alicia Goldenziel (Moscow, Pa. / North Pocono) made a turn around shot in the seventh minute, following a time of limited scoring from either team. Senior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) joined in with a jumper to help the Warriors close the gap. Hartman secured two free throws with two minutes remaining. Then senior Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) and sophomore Ann-Marie McMurtrie (Centre Hall, Pa. / Penns Valley) each made a layup and first-year Summer Emlet (New Cumberland, Pa. / Red Land) ended the game with a free throw.

   

Kenzie Selvaggi led Susquehanna (7-7 overall, 4-3 Landmark) with 19 points. Carly George also contributed 11 points and 14 rebounds to help the River Hawks' efforts. 

  

The Warriors return to the Lamade Gym on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. for a Landmark Conference game against Goucher College, kicking off a doubleheader before the men's game at 4 p.m.
