WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Starting his career with a pair of shutouts to help the Lycoming College men's soccer team to the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament title at Penn State-Behrend has helped first-year goalkeeper
Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) earn his first career Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week award, the conference office announced on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Â
Bennett served as the backline of a brilliant Warrior defense that allowed 11 shots in their first two games of the year, stopping all six shots that came between the pipes. He stopped three shots in a 1-0 win over Baldwin-Wallace and three more in a 2-0 win over Penn State-Behrend, which was a finalist in the 2023 ECAC Championship.
Â
Bennett is the first Warrior to earn the Landmark Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week award since
Nick Wilke '24 earned the award on Oct. 16, 2023.
Â
The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 4, when they host Mount Aloysius in non-conference action at 7 p.m. at UPMC Field.
