MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - With seven seconds left on the clock, sophomore Ella Magee (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) fired in a penalty kick to help the Lycoming College women's soccer post a 3-3 draw, scoring twice in the last 15 minutes at Penn State-Harrisburg on Tuesday night, Sept. 24.
An unintentional handball in the box with seven seconds left stopped the clock and set up Magee's second penalty kick goal of the year, as she moved into a tie for the Landmark Conference lead with six goals and 15 points.
Sophomore Julia Bidelspach (Myerstown, Pa. / ELCO) scored Lycoming's first goal 16 minutes into the contest, receiving the ball from senior Kylie Brodkorb (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) before driving it into the net.
Fifteen minutes later, the Lions (2-4-3 overall) tied the game before scoring twice in a two-minute span 10 minutes into the second half to take a 3-1 lead.
The Warriors (7-1-1 overall) rallied, as Mikayla Long (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) headed the ball into the net off a corner kick by senior Haley Schafer (Camden, Del. / Caesar Rodney) in the 74th minute to make it a one-goal game. The Warriors continued to pressure, with it paying off as a Penn State-Harrisburg foul with 25 seconds left led to the free kick into the box that resulted in a handball.
In net, sophomore Mia Pollack (Mountain Top, Pa. / Crestwood) notched four saves for the Warriors. The Nittany Lions' Sydney Mulka stopped one shot. Penn State-Harrisburg had 11 shots and six corner kicks to Lycoming's five shots and three corners.
Julia Hughes led the Lions with two goals and Ciera Frick added a goal and an assist.
The Warriors travel to Towson, Md., on Saturday, Sept. 28, to open Landmark Conference play at Goucher College at 1 p.m.
