WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Seniors Rei Saar (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area), Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) and first-year Sadie Stahl (Duboistown, Pa. / South Williamsport) all won their singles and doubles matches against Penn State Altoona, leading the Lycoming College women's tennis team to a 4-3 win on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Lycoming (4-0 overall) secured three points in singles play en route to a fourth straight win.
Saar, who won 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, against Penn State Altoona's Caitlin Blessel in No. 1 singles, clinched the match.
In No. 3 doubles, Lanphear defeated Sienna Fell, 6-1, 6-3, securing Lycoming's second point and Stahl claimed a 7-5, 6-0, victory in No. 4 singles against Penn State Altoona's Abigail Morgan.
Lycoming won two of its three doubles matches, which secured its first point in the competition.
In No. 1 doubles, Saar and junior Emma Kelchner (Nescopeck, Pa. / Central Columbia) won a tight 6-4 match against Blessel and Rachel Stricek. Lanphear and Stahl secured a 6-2 win against Fell and Morgan in No. 2 doubles.
The Warriors open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 12 p.m., when they face Drew University.
