Warriors use doubles sweep to propel 5-2 win over Lock Haven

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Juniors Greta Kimble (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) and Cassandra Conner (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) won their No. 3 doubles match to clinch the first point and both their singles matches to propel the Lycoming College women's tennis team to a 5-2 win over Division II Lock Haven University to stay undefeated on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Brandon Park.
 

Kimble and Conner secured a 6-2 victory over the Bald Eagles' Maci Rohrbach and Maggie Blasetti to clinch the doubles point for the Warriors (3-0 overall). At No. 5 singles, Kimble won, 6-2, 6-3, against Lock Haven's Gianna Balchun for the team's third point, and Conner clinched the win with the fourth point at No. 6 singles, beating Hope Lapinski, 6-1, 6-3.
 

In No. 2 doubles, senior Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) and freshman Sadie Stahl (Duboistown, Pa. / South Williamsport) won 6-2 against Christy McLean and Alaina Marchioni for the first Warrior win of the match.
 

Lanphear followed that by winning the first set (6-3) before losing the second (4-6), which led to a tight tiebreaker match where the Warrior rallied to a 10-5 win over McLean. Stahl added the first singles win at No. 4, posting a 6-2, 6-2 win against Marchioni.
 

Senior Rei Saar (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area) and junior Emma Kelchner (Nescopeck, Pa. / Central Columbia) also rallied for a tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles,7-6 (4) to cap doubles play.
 

Lock Haven fell to 0-2.
 

The Warriors travel to Altoona, Pa., on Thursday, Sept. 19, for a 3:30 p.m. match against Penn State Altoona.
